SBRT — Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy.

A small number of very precise, high-dose treatments to a well-defined target in the body — concentrating the dose where it counts, with steep fall-off around it.

SBRT delivers a high, ablative dose to a small, clearly-defined target in just a few sessions — precision radiation, compressed into days rather than weeks.

What it is

Where conventional radiation spreads dose over many small daily fractions, SBRT delivers a much higher dose per session to a tightly-defined target, in typically one to five treatments. It depends on rigorous immobilisation and image guidance.

Where it helps

  • Small, localised tumours — for example in the lung or spine
  • Selected oligometastatic disease
  • Cases where a short, focused course is appropriate

What to expect

Because the dose per session is high, planning and verification are exacting. Dr. Bhatnagar will assess whether your tumour's size, site and surroundings make SBRT a suitable option.
