3D-CRT — 3D Conformal Radiotherapy.

Beams shaped to the three-dimensional outline of the target from a planning CT — the dependable foundation on which modern external-beam radiation is built.

3D-CRT is the foundation technique of modern radiation: beams individually shaped to the target's 3D form, planned on the patient's own CT anatomy.

What it is

Using a planning CT, the target and nearby organs are outlined in three dimensions, and each beam is shaped to match the target's profile from its direction. It conforms the dose far better than older two-dimensional methods.

Where it is used

  • A broad range of indications where its conformity is sufficient
  • Situations where IMRT's added complexity isn't required
  • As a reliable, well-understood standard of care

What to expect

3D-CRT is planned from a CT simulation and delivered as painless daily sessions. Dr. Bhatnagar selects between 3D-CRT and more complex techniques based on what each individual case genuinely needs.
